Mandy Harvey is the perfect example of a young woman who would not let obstacles stand in the way of her dreams coming true. Mandy was born with a hearing abnormality and needed repeated surgeries as a young child, in attempt to correct them. She loved singing all throughout her youth, and performed in her local high school talent shows.
When Mandy was just 18 years old she lost all of her hearing. At the time she was attending Colorado State University and majored in singing education. Devastated, she left the university and returned home. Mandy fell into a deep depression and didn’t know what to do with her life. She reached down deep inside and found the courage to TRY. In 2008, Mandy met up with a former professor from CSU, who connected her with pianist Mark Sloniker. That led to a performance gig at Jay’s Bistro in Fort Collins, where she performed frequently.
In 2017 she got her big break, when she appeared on America’s Got Talent show. She brought the audience to tears with her inspirational story of perseverance. She performed her song “TRY” and received the “golden buzzer” award from super critic Simon Cowell. Today, Mandy is pursuing her musical career and inspiring people everywhere to never give up on their dreams.
