Baseball is not considered a contact sport. The truth is players can and do make serious contact with other players, bats and baseballs more than you might think. Check out this photo of the Arizona Diamondbacks Chris Lannetta taking one for the team. Lanetta, for whatever reason, leaned in on the 93 MPH fastball and got hit right in the mouth.
He was knocked down for a few minutes and seen bleeding from the mouth. He exited the game and was later taken to a nearby hospital for further evaluation. No word yet if the baseball was used again after the incident, but no doubt that ball was juiced.
